Chapin to Host Labor Day Festival -
Monday's Labor Day program kicks off with they big parade in Chapin. The lineup begins at 8 a.m. at GIS and the parade starts at 9:30 a.m. The parade makes a one-mile loop around the town's historic district through downtown on Lexington Avenue to Columbia Avenue and then down East Boundary back to GIS. Beaufort and Clark Streets will be closed off for a variety of vendor booths, arts and crafts, concessions, a children's carnival with rides and the Chapin Champions Talent Contest. The grand marshal is Ceil the Eagle, Chapin High School's mascot. Mayor Stan Sheay will "Ride with the Champions" on a float with NASCAR driver Kyle Busch's No. 18 car, wearing a pit crew costume. After the parade, the car will be on display on Beaufort Street. Following the parade, the Chapin Champion Talent Contest will be on stage in the old Chapin Fire Station. The post also will have booths set up on Clark and Beufort Streets.
