Chapin Champion Talent Show -
All you talented folks out there, get your acts together to strut your stuff! Enter now for the Chapin Labor Day Festival Chapin Champion Talent Show on September 2. This year's festival theme is "We are the Champions". Some of the champions'names are on banners placed throughout Chapin Chapin Mayor Stan Shealy says Chapin has won championships in all fields -- from those in our schools to artists, dancers, beauty queens, businesses, organizations and so on. Fees to enter are: $10 solo; $15 duet; $20 group. The festival will run August 31 - September 2, beginning with the Run or Walk a Crooked 5K for Meals on Wheels at Crooked Creek Park August 31. A Bluegrass concert celebration will be performed at Chapin Presbyterian Church September 1 and a full day of events takes place Monday September 2 on Labor Day, including the famous Chapin Labor Day Parade at 9:30 a.m., the Chapin Champion talent contest, rides, arts and crafts, vendors concessions, Gospel concert at Chapin Christian Counseling and Grace Chapel, Classic Car Cruise-In, Friends of the Library Book Sale and more!
Chapin Prayer Walk -
Put on your walking shoes for the annual Chapin Prayer Walk August 17. Mayor Stan says everybody is welcome! The walk will begin by driving to Spring Hill High School at 8 a.m., then to Lake Murray Elementary at 8:20 a.m., then to Chapin Elementary. Park your cars at Chapin Elementary. From there, walk to Chapin Middle School, Crooked Creek Park, Alternative Academy for Success (Town Hall) and Chapin High School. Buses will take walkers back to their vehicles. Prayers will be offered at each location for our community, our schools, children and teachers.
