Help the We Care Food Pantry -
Chapin residents, leave a bag or bags of food by your mailbox by 8 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, February 8th. Boy Scout Troop 870 is conducting a food drive to benefit the We Care of Chapin food pantry. For questions, contact Troy McNall (Scouting for Food coordinator) at 348-8757. We Care food panty needs include tuna, Spam and salmon. We Care Executive Director Maggie Siegfried said that volunteers, including many from Chapin United Methodist Church, have worked diligently to transform the former St. Francis Thrift Shop into a new, larger We Care. Last year, the Chapin We Care Pantry received over 217,000 pounds of food, a 16 percent increase over the previous year. We Care also helps people in need of utility assistance, kerosene vouchers, gasoline vouchers mostly for doctor's appointments and vouchers to the St. Francis Thrift Store.
